The Wall Street Journal reports that now might be a really good time to buy a luxury home.

The key factor cited in the article is that sellers are getting realistic about pricing and are cutting deals to get their homes sold.  Another factor is that interest rates are currently very low and many are predicting short-term increases in rates.

Here locally, we are seeing a very limited number of upper-end closings.  Most of the transactions over $1m have been waterfront homes on the islands and along the Caloosahatchee River in South Fort Myers.  Prices have dropped the most in the upscale country club communities, but to date there has been very little activity for these homes.
