For many visitors to the Fort Myers area, Summerlin Road is among the first road traveled as it offers the most direct route from RSW to the popular tourist destinations of Sanibel, Captiva and Fort Myers Beach. From my point of view this is truly beneficial for the area as Summerlin Road is lined with both protected natural beauty as well as a number of highly-regarded residential developments.

Summerlin Road is primary north-south corridor in Fort Myers running from Colonial Boulevard in the north to McGregor Boulevard in the south. A February 2009 Lee County DOT traffic study estimated that on average 31,200 vehicles a day were using Summerlin Road near the intersection of Winkler Road.

The City of Cape Coral has implemented a program requiring a mortgagee initializing a foreclosure action to register with the city and maintain the property. The fee to register a property with the city is $150.

Properties in non-compliance are subject to fines of up to $1000 a day. This program has proven effective at forcing mortgagee’s to make improvements to foreclosed properties and keep them moving towards a sale.
