A new residential condo tower under construction in Bonita Springs that celebrates Florida’s indoor/outdoor lifestyle is the first new high-rise condominium tower in Southwest Florida in nearly a decade. Bonita Springs-based developer and homebuilder WCI Communities is building Altaira, a 21-story building that will be home to just 76 luxury units in The Colony Golf & Bay Club in Bonita Springs. Altaira residents will have gorgeous views of the Gulf of Mexico, Estero Bay and a beautiful Colony golf course with lakes. Altaira is expected for completion in May 2017. Buyers who are under contract to purchase condos at Altaira have so far been mostly owners living in The Colony. Many are downsizing from larger, single-family homes or want to move from a smaller condo into the more roomy Altaira residences.
Many buyers want the feel of a single-family home without the hassles of maintenance. Altaira units will be sized similar to that of a single-family home, either 3,300 or 3,500 square feet, with only four luxury units on each floor. The new Altaira will feature a refreshing new coastal contemporary design to blend in with the picture-perfect setting of its natural surroundings of The Colony Golf & Bay Club, a highly coveted gated community. Award-winning architect Bob Hall of Curtis Gaines Hall Jones is heading the Altaira design. Hall is well known for his work with WCI, designing 14 towers including the uber-luxury Seasons in Naples and Veracruz on Marco Island. Hall’s attractive flow-through designs at Altaira will showcase generous natural light and 2 or 3 terraces with both east and west views, providing both screened and open-air private terrace options. Resident garage parking and storage will be on the first floor, while owner amenities and guest suites on the second floor.
