There’s more good news coming out of Estero, and this one is tied directly to a tiny three-digit number. It turns out Estero is one of the top cities when it comes to locations boasting the highest average credit scores.
That’s according to a report by LendEDU, a marketplace for student loan refinancing and student loans. In using data gained from Experian, LendEDU analyzed each town and city’s average VantageScore 3.0 Credit Score, then ranked the highest performers.
In the national ranking, Estero came in at number 51 on the list of the nation’s 500 top cities with the best credit scores. While that’s impressive in itself, when comparing just locations in states making up the southeastern United States, Estero lands in the number 10 spot for 2017, coming in well ahead of thousands of other regional communities.
This time LendEDU ranked the top 250 credit score communities in the states of Florida, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, Georgia, Arkansas and Alabama. According to the regional report, the village maintains a 760 average, one of the highest average credit scores of anywhere else in the entire Southeastern United States. That’s important because a score of 760 or higher is generally considered excellent.
The report maintains tourism plays an important part in the overall financial health of cities and towns in the southeast. It then draws the conclusion that an average credit score can also indicate economic stability. Oftentimes, places with high average credit scores also see decreasing unemployment, a rise in incomes and fewer defaults on mortgages and loans.
In analyzing more than 6,500 southeastern cities and towns, not only did Estero gain a spot rounding out the top ten, but also the State of Florida boasted the most cities on the top 250 list. Located in Lee County, the Village of Estero is part of the Fort Myers-Cape Coral metro area.
