The nation’s first solar powered town is quickly emerging as a family-friendly destination, complete with a neighborhood school, plentiful green space, plus in the near future, retailers and, of course, enviable options in homes. The sustainable Babcock Ranch community is under construction right now but already families are seeing the strong promise that the planned development holds.
Whether taking a paddleboard or kayak out on Lake Babcock or fishing from the pier, families are sure to enjoy a rich selection of outdoor recreational possibilities within the boundaries of the community. Babcock Ranch is also home to hiking trails, a splash fountain perfect for the younger crowd and a popular restaurant, already open every day of the week.
The lifestyle at Babcock Ranch also transcends to community gardens and a boardwalk, dog parks and planned social events. From the small town allure of Main Street to the Great Lawn gathering spot, Babcock Ranch is a place for families to come together, enjoying concerts, celebrations or simply a cup of coffee with friends.
Future plans also call for retail shops, a produce market and a wellness center, all conveniently laid out close to homes. In fact, all of the planned neighborhoods within Babcock Ranch will be within a short walk of local parks, creating plentiful green space for kids to play and for adults to join in conversation. The homes are being designed with front porches too, to enjoy neighborhood get-togethers, while the overall community welcomes everything from fishing spots to picnic areas.
There’s also the neighborhood school, which already welcomes kids from grades kindergarten through sixth. Students commonly enjoy nature walks, while also coming together with a hands-on approach to learning. The 18,000-acre property becomes a classroom in itself, where countless residents will soon live, work and play, together forming a sustainable and collaborative community.
