If you’re in search of a boating lifestyle, Southwest Florida is definitely the place to go. The region is filled with boating communities where you can easily dock your boat and head out on the water whenever you choose.

Fort Myers

Fort Myers is just one of the best places to begin your search. You’ll find some great options in such locations as Gulf Harbour Yacht & Country Club. This private boating and golf course community has more than 180 wet slips with the advantage of direct gulf access. Other options include the Catalpa Cove or St Charles Harbour.

Cape Coral

Nearby Cape Coral is packed with boating communities itself. You’ll likely find some fantastic communities to choose from including the canal front homes of Cape Harbour in Southwest Cape Coral. The Cape Harbour Marina provides for wet slips, dry boat storage and more. Also consider the Yacht Club and Gold Coast neighborhoods in Cape Coral.

You may also want to look in Tarpon Point, right alongside the Caloosahatchee River. While there are hundreds of miles of canals in Cape Coral, for easy access onto the river and onto the Gulf, don’t miss the homes along the North Spreader Canal and South Spreader Canal.

Sanibel

If the island lifestyle sounds appealing, you’ll definitely want to check out Sanibel Island. Waterfront communities on the west end of the island such as Del Sega are a good place to search. You can also find canal homes on the east end in Shell Harbour, Sanibel Isles and several other Sanibel gulf access neighborhoods.

Naples

For single-family canal homes in North Naples, be sure to look in the Connors Vanderbilt community. You can also access the Gulf via Doctors Pass from the Park Shore or Moorings communities or enjoy Gulf access from the luxury community of Aqualane Shores.

Other options in Southwest Florida include select homes with direct gulf access in Bonita Springs, as well as some Gulf access communities in Estero.
