The new Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille restaurant opened this summer on Captiva at the South Seas Resort. Residents on Captiva and Sanibel have opened their arms to welcome this new restaurant addition to the island. Guests of the South Seas Resort and the island can enjoy live evening entertainment every Friday and Saturday until 1:30 A.M. Area bands will be booked every weekend. The restaurant’s fun and tropical style reflects the upbeat, laid-back style of the islands. The restaurant is making plans for other special events, music and chef tastings; it’s also available to host area meetings or conventions that want a smaller venue.
Just like the Fort Myers and Sanibel locations, similar menu items serving tropical cuisine and cocktails can be expected, like flatbreads. Customers can choose between the Captive Gulf Shrimp Flat Bread, the Okeechobee Pulled-Port Flat Bread, and the Jerked Chicken Flat Bread. Other popular menu items include the Mussels and Seared Tuna appetizers, and Doc Ford’s Lime Panko Crusted Fish Sandwich. There will be daily specials by Chef Greg Nelson, the original chef from Sanibel and Executive Chef at Fort Myers Beach, Chef James King. This is Doc Ford’s third location; the other 2 are on Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach.
Doc Ford’s Captiva restaurant features seating for 340 inside, 50 on the patio outside and a catering room for up to 45 people. Doc Ford’s merchandise is for sale by the front door, including t-shirts, hats, mugs and the novels made famous by Randy Wayne White, a Sanibel resident, in his New York Times bestselling Doc Ford mystery series.
