Fort Myers Leads Nation In Air Quality

fort_myers_beach_vista_wm Fort Myers tops the charts at #2 for U.S. metro areas with the cleanest air. Four out of the Top 10 cities for good air quality were located in Florida. The AirGenius Awards, sponsored by Honeywell AirGenius Air Cleaner, assessed the nation’s cities based on criteria rated for air quality. It unanimously found Florida as the state with the cleanest air in America, and Fort Myers amongst the cities with the cleanest. The study looked at pollen counts, ozone concentrations, public smoking laws, and green initiatives in their rankings of the 100 most populated cities. The researchers found Fort Myers air quality as superior. This is good news for city dwellers and homeowners, especially the elderly, young children and individuals who suffer from allergies and asthma. In a previous report by the American Lung Association, the Fort Myers-Cape Coral area ranked #19 on its list of 25 top U.S. cities for air quality. It shows that Fort Myers is a top choice to live for people who have asthma, and especially women, who are more likely to develop asthma than men. Florida tops the U.S. as well in recreational activities for Florida residents and out-of-state visitors. As Florida is recognized for air quality among the best in the nation, it’s another reason to go outside and enjoy unlimited fun.
