Babcock Ranch Named Top Master-planned Community in SW Florida

The nation’s first solar powered town just picked up a new title. Babcock Ranch is now Southwest Florida’s top master-planned community.

That’s according to a Metrostudy analysis of single-family home annual starts in a three-county area. Metrostudy tracks housing and residential construction industry data.

Analysts found 295 annual starts in Babcock Ranch, putting it in the lead by more than 20-percent. Those connected with Babcock attribute some of that to the number of premiere homebuilders and the price point offered in the new self-contained community.

Homes in Babcock Ranch are priced starting under $200,000, with some of the largest homes priced upwards of $1 million. There are several quick move-in ready homes available for prospective buyers.

Community leaders also point to the uniqueness of Babcock Ranch, including the smart home technology and autonomous transportation offered to buyers, both are which are seen as emerging trends when it comes to the new home market. In all there are 11 homebuilders signed on to Babcock Ranch, offering up your choice of dozens of different home designs.

From condos and villas to single-family homes, there are plenty of options when it comes to living in Babcock. Under construction right now, it’s expected that Babcock Ranch will someday be home to 19,000 private residences and around 50,000 residents.

Along with the homes and various amenities, about half of the sustainable town is dedicated to green space and lakes. The walkable community also includes miles of hiking and biking trails, sports courts and health club facilities. The opportunity additionally exists for canoeing or kayaking on Lake Babcock or for taking an electric boat tour.

The downtown district of Founder’s Square includes a coffee shop, restaurant and retailer, plus a neighborhood school. Other amenities of living in Babcock Ranch include fishing, dog parks, neighborhood playgrounds and a community garden.
